SPECT / CT

What is SPECT and SPECT/CT?

Procedurile conventionale de diagnostic pot afisa doar "structura" corpului, nu si functiile. Pentru aceasta sunt necesare proceduri aditionale

Conventional diagnostic procedures can only display the "structure" of the body, but not its functions (for instance, the metabolism). This requires additional procedures. SPECT and SPECT/CT use gamma radiation from radioactively marked compounds for nuclear medical diagnostics. SPECT stands for "Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography." The system uses -detectors to create sectional images of the distribution and accumulation of radiopharmaceuticals in individual organs or the entire body. In the case of SPECT/CT, SPECT is combined with high-resolution computed tomography (CT) equipment in a single system. As a result, a single scan can provide information about functional abnormalities, such as tumors or Alzheimer’s disease and their exact three-dimensional anatomic location.
